You’ll find answers to many common questions about handcycling here. If you have any yourself, please ask us at info@handcyclingedinburgh.org and we’ll do our best to answer them.

Q: What is handcycling?

A: Handcycling is simply a form of cycling where the rider powers the bike by using their hands and arms rather than their legs and feet.

Q: Who is handcycling for?

A: While it’s most well known as being a sport for disabled people, nearly anyone can ride a handbike. If you can pedal with your arms, you can ride a handbike.

Q: Is handcycling difficult

A: It can be, but it’s well worth it. Like any sport, it becomes easier the more you do it and the physical improvements in handcycling can come surprisingly fast.
